Explore Innovation and Culture in the Yangtze River Delta
October 2024
ZHEJIANG & SHANGHAI, CHINA – October 2024 – Miles & Minds successfully delivered a comprehensive study tour for a delegation of 50 MBA participants from the Institute of Business Studies RANEPA, offering a deep dive into innovation, business practices, and cultural heritage in one of China’s most dynamic regions — the Yangtze River Delta.
Academic Engagement at Zhejiang International Business School
At the Zhejiang International Business School, participants took part in a series of lectures designed to bridge global business perspectives with China’s rapidly evolving economic landscape.
A highlight of the academic program was a session on Generative AI, where participants explored how emerging technologies are reshaping industries, decision-making processes, and competitive strategies in both China and the global market.
From Global Metropolis to Cultural Icon
The program combined academic learning with immersive city exploration:
In Shanghai, participants experienced China’s most international business hub, gaining insight into urban development, finance, and global connectivity
In Hangzhou, the group visited the iconic West Lake, discovering the harmony between natural beauty, history, and modern innovation
Industry Visits: Tradition Meets Modern Production
To complement the academic modules, the delegation visited leading manufacturing and cultural enterprises:
Wensli Silk – where participants observed the craftsmanship and modernization of China’s historic silk industry
A Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) factory – providing insight into how ancient medical knowledge is integrated with contemporary production and global markets
These visits offered a unique perspective on how China blends centuries-old traditions with cutting-edge industrial practices.
An Immersive Cultural Experience
Beyond lectures and company visits, the program provided participants with a rich cultural experience of the Yangtze River Delta — one of China’s most economically vibrant and historically significant regions.
From classical landscapes to modern megacities, the delegation gained a deeper understanding of:
China’s regional diversity
The interplay between tradition and innovation
The cultural context behind business practices
Building Global Perspectives
This study tour reinforced Miles & Minds’ commitment to designing high-impact educational journeys that combine academic rigor, industry exposure, and cultural immersion.
